When should we order our wedding cake?
It is best to place your order as soon as possible as the calendar fills up quickly. Wedding cakes should be ordered at least two months in advance, but it is recommended to secure your date at least four to six months in advance. All dates are subject to availability.
 

What is the booking process?

Once you have your date and venue secured, you’ll need to fill out the Wedding Inquiry Form. I will reach out to confirm availability and discuss details. Once I have a general idea of the cake you are looking for, I will provide an estimate. When you are ready to book, I require a $300 non-refundable deposit as well as a signed contract. This secures your date in my calendar and you can continue with the rest of your planning. We will need to finalize the details of your cake within two months of your wedding, and the remaining balance for your cake is due 14 days prior to your event.
 

What are your delivery minimums and fees?

There is no minimum for deliveries in Santa Barbara. The delivery minimum is $350 for the Santa Ynez Valley and $500 for Los Alamos and Ventura County. Order minimums do not include delivery fees. 

 

Deliveries within Santa Barbara are included in the price of the cake. Outside of Santa Barbara, the delivery fee is $1.25/mile round trip.

How much will my wedding cake cost?

Custom cake costs are completely dependent upon the design. You can reference the sizing and pricing guide for a price range that includes the majority of designs. Designs that require additional labor will necessitate additional cost. A final estimate will be provided once the design has been discussed.
 

Do you offer cake tastings?

Cake tastings are available for $50. Your choice of three flavors from the menu will be packed in a box for you to pick up and taste at your convenience. Each tasting box comfortably allows 2-4 people to taste. Please email jocelyn@bigredbaking.com to further inquire about securing a tasting box date. Tastings are available by appointment only and are subject to availability. They do book up quickly, so it is best to plan ahead!
 

What is your design process?

Inspiration photos can be helpful, but all of my work will be original - no artist should have their work copied! Gather photos and create mood boards, but think about the specific elements you like from each photo. If you have color palettes you’re working with, send them my way. I also have a list of style words that can be helpful in trying to capture the mood you want to set for your wedding. We’ll work together to create a beautiful and unique cake for your wedding.
 

Do you provide cake sketches?

After you have reserved your date with your contract and non-refundable deposit, I can provide a cake sketch based on our discussions of the design. I’m happy to make adjustments to the design as needed until you are completely happy!

Can we select different flavors for different tiers?

Yes! You may select a different flavor for each tier of your cake.
 

Do you offer cupcakes or dessert tables?

Cupcakes are available by the dozen. At this time, I only offer cakes and cupcakes.
