When should we order our wedding cake?
It is best to place your order as soon as possible as the calendar fills up quickly. Wedding cakes should be ordered at least two months in advance, but it is recommended to secure your date at least four to six months in advance. All dates are subject to availability.
 

What is the booking process?

Once you have your date and venue secured, you’ll need to fill out the Wedding Inquiry Form. I will reach out to confirm availability and discuss details. Once I have a general idea of the cake you are looking for, I will provide an estimate. When you are ready to book, I require a $100 non-refundable deposit. This secures your date in my calendar and you can continue with the rest of your planning. We will need to finalize the details of your cake within two months of your wedding, and the remaining balance for your cake is due 14 days prior to your event.
 

What is your delivery fee?

Deliveries in Santa Barbara are $25. Outside of Santa Barbara, the delivery fee is $50 + $0.50/mile round trip.
 

How much will my wedding cake cost?

Custom cake costs are completely dependent upon the design. You can reference the sizing and pricing guide for base costs, but the final cost depends on the amount of labor required for your particular cake. All design work is charged at $40/hour.
 

Do you offer cake tastings?

Once you have secured your date with your signed contract and non-refundable deposit, you can schedule a complimentary cake tasting (available for orders of two-tier cakes and larger). Your choice of three flavors from the menu will be packed in a box for you to pick up and taste at your convenience. If you have not paid your deposit but still would like to schedule a tasting, there is a $50 fee. This fee will be deducted from your total cost should you choose to order your wedding cake from Big Red Baking Company.
 

What is your design process?

Inspiration photos can be helpful, but all of my work will be original - no artist should have their work copied! Gather photos and create mood boards but think about the specific elements you like from each photo. If you have color palettes you’re working with, send them my way. I also have a list of style words that can be helpful in trying to capture the mood you want to set for your wedding. We’ll work together to create a beautiful and unique cake for your wedding.
 

Do you provide cake sketches?

After you have reserved your date, I can provide a cake sketch based on our discussions of the design. I’m happy to make adjustments to the design as needed until you are completely happy!
 

What is the difference between a dessert serving and a coffee serving?

Dessert servings are larger at 2" x 1" x 5.5". Coffee servings are smaller portions at 1" x 1" x 5.5". There are a multitude of factors to consider when deciding how many servings you will need, but don’t worry - I will walk you through the decision-making!

Can we select different flavors for different tiers?

Yes! You may select a different flavor for each tier of your cake.
 

Do you offer cupcakes or dessert tables?

Cupcakes are available by the dozen. At this time, I only offer cakes and cupcakes.
